Rio Ferdinand has made it clear and stated that Ivan Toney won’t be securing a January transfer to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Before the 27-year-old was even banned, Arsenal fans were dreaming and hoping to secure his signature.

Well, after a festive period to forget for the Gunners, including starting the New Year in the worst possible way, all of that talk of wanting the England star has just increased.

But Rio Ferdinand has made it clear that there is ‘no way’ the 27-year-old will move to the Emirates during the January transfer window, as he told Vibe with Five.

Before the Premier League title-chasers can get going, do they even have the money to spend on a player dubbed the ‘real deal’?

The answer is probably ‘no’, not because the powers that be at the Emirates don’t want to spend, but because of FFP.

Either way, Rio Ferdinand was pretty clear on any type of £100 million deal taking place here.

Arsenal’s forward line needs to step up

From main forward Gabriel Jesus to captain Martin Odegaard, they need to wake up and start putting the ball in the back of the net again.

It’s not like Arsenal aren’t creating the chances. They proved during their FA Cup defeat to Liverpool that plenty of chances are being made.

They are just lacking that bite, finish and ruthless nature. The only big positive right now is that there is plenty of time to still react.

Yes, this is a bad period Arsenal are going through, but they have enough time to pick themselves up and ensure this remains the worst period of their season.
