Arsenal target who’s ‘better than Haaland’ says he’d love to play in the Premier League in future

Arsenal have been linked with Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen at various times over the past few transfer windows.

This remains the case, with speculation about the Gunners and the Nigeria international doing the rounds at present too.

For instance, Italian journalist Ciro Venerato said in December that Arsenal have indeed touched base over signing Osimhen.

Now, the Gunners have been handed a bit of a boost – in the long-term anyway – with regards to the 25-year-old’s stance on his future.

Osimhen, currently representing his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, has said he “definitely” wants to play in the Premier League in his career.

However, the Super Eagles ace recently signed a new contract at Napoli, and he has once again made it clear that he’s currently happy at the Italian club.

“For me, ADL (Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli president) has been the type of president who has been supportive of me outside the pitch,” Sky Sports News quote Osimhen as saying after Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

“And of course I’ve tried to give my all to win the Scudetto for them. So for me, it is always important to have this type of relationship and to be happy with the individual and the owner of the club.

“Of course, one day definitely [will play in the Premier League], but now I have other plans in my career I’m looking forward to, but when the time comes, everyone will know.”

Arsenal will have to wait a while if they want Victor Osimhen – TBR View

Osimhen’s new deal, which reportedly boasts a £113million release clause, runs until the summer of 2026.

While it’s not massively long-term, it’s still enough to dissuade the likes of Arsenal from seeing the Serie A-based goal machine as a legitimate transfer target this year.

Nevertheless, it’s good to hear that Osimhen definitely does want to play in the Premier League in the future. The Gunners will surely keep tabs on the player in the coming years.

Osimhen ticks all the boxes for the Gunners. He is quick, direct, yet to enter his prime, and completely different to anything they have in the squad at the moment.

Andrea D’Amico told Radio24 last year, as per Goal.com: “He certainly won’t lack options, especially in England and Paris Saint-Germain.

“At the moment, Osimhen is the best striker in the world. Yes, even better than Haaland!”

However, in terms of what Arsenal need now – or in the summer – up front, they’ll most certainly have to look elsewhere.
