“I’m suffering in silence”- Arsenal’s £45M superstar makes a ‘very emotional’ admission to the public after the recent battles he’s faced at Arsenal over the past months which made him even miss the FIFA 2022 World Cup- He urged Arsenal fans to be a bit more patient with him

Gabriel Jesus admits to ‘suffering’ at Arsenal because of the knee injury he suffered for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The 26-year-old stated that it has been ‘hard’, but after playing towards the back end of last season and now in pre-season, he is starting to find normality in his game.

Gabriel Jesus added that he is ‘still working hard’ on his fitness and to get ‘strong’ ahead of the forthcoming Premier League campaign, as he told Arsenal’s press-conference ahead of their pre-season clash against Barcelona.

Last summer, Arsenal paid £45 million (BBC Sport) for his talents, after he won four Premier League titles with Manchester City, in the hope to transfer that experience to the Emirates Stadium.

Things were going well for the quick-thinking forward, up until the World Cup, and whilst he returned for the final few months, he was thrown straight into the deep end and he was never going to be 100%.

That’s what Jesus alluded to ahead of Arsenal continuing their pre-season tour of America, with a certain Barcelona up next.

“Comparing with my injury on my foot in 2017, it’s so different,” said Jesus. “This is my first injury and I hope it’s the last one on the knee. 

“Now, I am suffering a little bit more than my foot. It’s been hard. I am working hard to get fitness and then come back strong.

On whether he feels like a different animal now: “Yes, for sure. I want to help. I want to work. I want to learn from the Mister (Mikel Arteta) and with the players as well.”

Jesus provides more than just goals

A lot of people mention Jesus’s goals column and how he isn’t someone that’s going to hit the 20+ goal mark like your Harry Kane’s or Erling Haaland’s of this world. 

But he isn’t in the team just for the goals, he is tasked with dragging players out of position, going out wide and causing havoc, dropping deep and opening up spaces for those around him.

And, as a result, everyone around him scores those extra few goals, as was proven with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and the now-departed Granit Xhaka all producing their best goalscoring seasons last time out.
