£30m Arsenal player looks rejuvenated in win over Crystal Palace

Arsenal got back to winning ways with a 5-0 hammering of Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had lost their last three games in all competitions prior to their winter break and drawing against Liverpool before Christmas.

Arsenal travelled to Dubai for a warm-weather camp and it has certainly done them some good, as they were back to their best against the Eagles.

Gabriel Magalhaes broke the deadlock with a header after just 11 minutes, and the Gunners then doubled their lead on 37 minutes through a Dean Henderson own goal.

Leandro Trossard made it three just before the hour mark, and Gabriel Martinelli made the scoreline more emphatic with an injury-time brace.

It just goes to show what a bit of rest – and a warm-weather training camp – can do in terms of both fitness and mentality.

Oleksandr Zinchenko looking rejuvenated as Arsenal hammer Crystal Palace

Oleksandr Zinchenko was one of the main beneficiaries of the winter break. Prior to this, he looked error-prone, but he was superb against Palace.

The £30million man delivered arguably his best performance in a while, helping overload the midfield and overwhelm the Eagles.

Overall, Zinchenko looked much more composed in his passing, with one particularly impressive delivery for Leandro Trossard in the first half.

The 27-year-old clocked up some good stats on the day. As per Sofascore, he took 101 touches of the ball, won five tackles, five ground duels and four aerial duels, and made one key pass.

When Arsenal dominate possession, Zinchenko is simply indispensable. Admittedly, when teams play on the counter, he does have his weaknesses, but overall, in games like today, you can’t go wrong with him.

The Gunners are next in action on Tuesday 30 January when they head to Nottingham Forest in a 7:30pm kickoff.
