‘Technically gifted’…Thierry Henry says Arsenal have a 20-year-old who’s truly brilliant

Thierry Henry has named Charlie Patino as one of the best young players in the Championship right now.

Speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel, the Chelsea loanee has been asked to name a wonderkid XI from the Championship, and his former Arsenal teammate made the grade.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Swansea City from the Gunners, and according to Hutchinson, he’s a fantastic young player.

Hutchinson says that Patino is incredibly technically gifted, and, intriguingly, he also says that he’s still friends with 20-year-old following their time together at Arsenal.

Henry praises Patino

The Legend spoke highly of the 20-year-old.

“Charlie Patino at Swansea, he’s technically gifted, very good on the ball, left-footer. We were with each other growing up in the academy from the age of 12 to the U23s. He understood that’s how football works, and we still communicate on FaceTime, on social media and still play PS5 with each other,” Hutchinson said.

Will he get a chance?

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Patino spoken about in these terms, and it certainly won’t be the last.

The midfielder, by all accounts, is a special player, and we’ve heard that for a long time now.

He’s been performing quite well in the Championship with Swansea and Blackpool over the past two years, and we can’t help but wonder if he’s now due a chance at Arsenal.

Kai Havertz isn’t necessarily playing brilliantly for the Gunners at the moment, and a change in that midfield position could be just what the doctor ordered.

Patino, of course, still has plenty to prove before he becomes a starter at Arsenal, but given his potential and how highly his peers speak of him, it’s easy to make an argument that Patino is deserving of a little chance in the first-team next season.

This young man remains someone worth keeping an eye on as he develops and grows.
