Alan Shearer congratulates Arsenal star for ‘best display of the season’
Jakub Kiwior produced the ‘best display of the season’ in Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday, says Premier League legend Alan Shearer.
Kiwior can operate as a central defender or left-back and has impressed while playing in the latter position for the north Londoners in recent weeks.
The Poland international has completed 90 minutes in Arsenal’s last two top-flight games, helping the Gunners secure six points and back-to-back clean sheets.
Shearer was particularly impressed with the 24-year-old’s performance at Turf Moor as he provided an assist for Kai Havertz.
‘Best display of the season,’ Shearer told the Premier League website about Kiwior after naming the Polish star in his Team of the Week. ‘He is really coming into his own at left-back.’
Shearer also picked Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard in his weekly XI while Mikel Arteta was named his Manager of the Week.
‘[Bukayo Saka] looks full of confidence,’ Shearer added. ‘Saka was unstoppable and he scored another brace.
‘Excellent finish [from Martin Odegaard] to give Arsenal the lead. He was simply outstanding.
‘What a turnaround [Mikel Arteta’s] team has had in 2024. Another stunning performance away from home.’
Meanwhile, Saka faced bizarre criticism from Tim Sherwood following the win at Burnley while Harry Redknapp says Odegaard is one of the world’s best midfielders.
