One of Arsenal’s stars was “on fire” in pre-season but hasn’t played this season
Peter Crouch has claimed that Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber was “on fire” in pre-season.

The Dutch international has not played since last August due to injury. He is working hard to be fit again, but it looks like it will be some time before he is available for Arsenal.

Peter Crouch says Arsenal star Jurrien Timber was ‘on fire’ in pre-season

Arsenal signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax last summer in a deal worth £38m (Sky Sports).

The Dutch international was very interesting. He may not have caused as much noise as Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, but everyone knew he was a quality reinforcement.

Timber got a lot of chances at Arsenal in pre-season. He played in both full-back positions and was absolutely magnificent for the Gunners. He was also one of Mikel Arteta’s star players in the Community Shield match against Manchester City.

Unfortunately, Timber suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the opening game of the season in August and has not played since.

Peter Crouch, has now said that he would like to see how Timber would have performed in the last few games.
He told The Highbury Squad: “If Jurrien Timber had been healthy, I’d like to see what he would be like now. When I saw him in pre-season, he was like a cannon. He had speed, power, touch… A good defender.

“He made the right decisions about when to step into the middle of the park and when to play forward. He knew that defence was his first job. It was the thing he had to do first before he was allowed to go and enjoy it. You have to defend first. And he was strong, he was fast.”

Jurrien Timber will play for Arsenal as a rookie
One of the biggest reasons Arsenal lost the Premier League title last season was that they lost William Salib and Takehiro Tomiyasu to serious injuries on the same night.

This season, Arsenal will have a number of injured players returning just as it enters the farewell end of the season in the Premier League and Champions League.

Timber, who has not played all year, would be a very interesting player to have available. He can play in the back line and midfield, is great on the ball, fantastic off it and is simply the perfect player.

Timber hasn’t been well looked after by Arsenal fans yet, so he would really be like a brand new signing when he returns from injury.
