According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have deployed scouts to track Girona’s left-back Miguel Gutiérrez, who is also attracting interest from several European clubs.

The Gunners have been monitoring the 22-year-old since his debut for Real Madrid in 2021. Romano reports that Arsenal scouts have recently been dispatched to observe the 2001-born prodigy, who is under contract with Girona until 2027.

While no other potential suitors for Gutiérrez have been specifically identified, it is widely believed that Real Madrid maintains an interest in their former player. Gutiérrez progressed through the ranks of Real Madrid’s academy before moving to Girona for €4 million in 2022.

The Spanish giants retain a 50% sell-on clause in his contract, but with Fran Garcia already in their squad and a potential sale of Alphonso Davies on the horizon, a move for Gutiérrez seems unlikely.

Girona would prefer to keep the Spaniard until the summer, but a substantial bid in January could compel the Catalan club to sell.

Arsenal’s Search for a New Left-Back:

Arsenal are evaluating their left-back options after loaning Kieran Tierney to Real Sociedad over the summer. Despite Nuno Tavares’ impressive spell in the French League with Olympique Marseille, he joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal with a buy option, leaving Oleksandr Zinchenko as the only established left-back in the squad.

Gutiérrez’s standout performances for Girona, who currently lead La Liga, have attracted the attention of scouts. The Spaniard has recorded one assist in 12 appearances across competitions this season, showcasing his exceptional offensive and defensive capabilities. His significant contribution has been instrumental in Girona’s unexpected rise.

The 22-year-old has made 46 appearances for Girona, and his impressive performances have garnered considerable interest, with Arsenal closely monitoring his progress.

Gutiérrez is regarded as one of Europe’s top inverted fullbacks, a role crucial to Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach, which favours fullbacks who can invert into midfield and facilitate smooth transitions between defense and attack.
