In addition, we are deeply disappointed by several incidents involving sections of the home support inside Celtic Park. Certain displays and caricatures directed toward our manager Derek McInnes were, in our opinion, inappropriate and designed to publicly ridicule both the individual and the football club. Rivalry and passion are part of football, but there remains a responsibility to maintain standards of respect within the game.

The emotional statement has now intensified pressure on the SPFL, with many demanding clarification over the VAR communication surrounding the Maeda goal. Former referees and pundits immediately began debating the incident online, with some arguing the decision was marginal while others claimed Hearts had every right to feel frustrated.
Meanwhile, Celtic sources reportedly dismissed the accusations privately, insisting the officials made the correct call and accusing Hearts of trying to distract from their own defensive collapse during the second half.
