Arsenal could be set to make ‘mind blowing’ late deal after receiving fresh Aaron Ramsdale bid

The end of the summer transfer window is now in sight for Arsenal with not a great deal of business having been sanctioned.

For some, this summer may feel as a missed opportunity from Arsenal to really put the pressure on Manchester City, as things stand.

Arsenal have been able to provide Mikel Arteta with two new additions this summer with Riccardo Calafiori the first to land.

Mikel Merino has now been announced as an Arsenal player after weeks and weeks of negotiations with Real Sociedad.

With the Spaniard now on board, the attention may well turn to potential player exits from north London.

There are two players who could depart in Eddie Nketiah who is undergoing his Crystal Palace medical and then Aaron Ramsdale.

Aaron Ramsdale Arsenal exit could launch fresh Arsenal bid
The future of Ramsdale is under real scrutiny heading into the final hours of this summer’s transfer window.

Ramsdale’s camp are now saying a move to Southampton is on the cards as the Saints have since lodged their bid.

If Ramsdale is to leave, the Gunners are going to need a new backup goalkeeper with Joan Garcia being one of the names mentioned.

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Garcia already with an agreement needed with Espanyol.

Speaking on his Patreon account, Team News and Tickets has claimed the fees involved in a potential deal for the goalkeeper are mind blowing

“That deal makes absolutely no sense to me and I don’t think I’ll ever understand it,” he said.

“If the numbers we are being told are true, it baffles me. If that comes in and our net spend goes up from £10m to £40m on buying a backup goalkeeper, it’s going to be mind blowing.”

Arsenal leaving it late to wrap up their business
Considering the stance on Ramsdale’s future has been known for a number of months now, it is truly bizarre that it has taken till now to see a real breakthrough.

It is not so much the notion of losing Ramsdale that is the issue, it’s the prospect of then having to go and risk finding another goalkeeper to add to the squad.

Garcia is now believed to be valued in the region of £30m for Arsenal and any other potentially interested parties.

Arsenal are going to put themselves in a position where they are likely going to be forced to spend whatever a club wants for a player at this stage in the window.

And if Ramsdale does go, Espanyol will be all too aware that Arsenal are in desperate need of a new number two goalkeeper and are going to have little choice other than to cough up.
