Per a report from Football Insider, there will be ‘serious consideration’ given by Rangers to brining Vaclav Cerny back to the club this summer. The Czech winger has been linked with an Ibrox return in recent weeks and it appears he is a player that would be welcomed back to the Glasgow outfit.
However, the report also claims that the club’s interest in signing the 28-year old, who is now with Turkish side Besiktas, hinge on him being available ‘on the cheap’. That would make any possible deal ‘difficult’ according to the article as the Super Lig side look to recoup as much of the £6 million they paid Wolfsburg for his services last summer while potentially even holding out for some profit on that figure.
Rangers could find the money to secure a deal but the club’s current policies around transfers are believed to deem the winger too old to consider spending such a significant fee on. However, there is no doubting his attacking output which would be a welcome addition to the first team for may supporters.
Cerny scored 18 goals while on loan at Rangers in the 2024/25 season but last season with Besiktas he managed just seven in all competitions. That has meant that, per the initial report, the Turkish club are willing to consider selling the former Ajax man.

Cerny was not selected for Czechia’s FIFA World Cup finals squad and even missed out on inclusion in the ‘preliminary squad’ which was named in the build-up to the tournament before being trimmed down to 26 players.
Czechia began their 2026 FIFA World Cup finals campaign with a 2-1 defeat to South Korea. They have been placed in Group A alongside South Africa and host nation Mexico, who they face next.
Cerny, who was last called-up in November 2025, will hope a summer move can bolster his chances of a return to the national team set-up. He has earned 30 caps for his country to date and, at 28-years-old, will likely hope to earn a good few more
