Latest Derby County news from DerbyshireLive brings you what the striker has said after he featured for his country in the Gold Cup final.

Patrick Agyemang says there are aspects of his game that he can improve on but insisted “it is just the beginning” as he closes in on a move to Derby County.

The forward was speaking after the Gold Cup final in which the USA failed to prevent Mexico from defending the trophy as they lost 2-1.

Agyemang featured in the final but will now look to seal his £5.8m move to Derby from Charlotte FC.

The 24-year-old is regarded as hot property across the Atlantic and has led the line for his country that is managed by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Derby are now set to secure his signature and Agyemang said after Sunday’s final that there are still facets of his game that need to be developed.

“I just want to continue controlling what I can control,” he said.

“I am always thankful for opportunities, but it’s just the beginning for me, and I want to continue learning.

“I learned a lot from this tournament. I learned there are a lot of good things that I can see for myself in this game, and there are a lot of things I can improve on.

“I’m just happy to say so because I know that, and I know I have maybe a shorter career path, but I know the development is going to be there.

“As long as I continue working hard to keep my mental side strong, anything is possible.”
