Forget Rodrygo: Arsenal Agree Initial Fee to Sign ‘Superstar’ After Gyokeres

With Viktor Gyokeres set to sign for Arsenal and cure their striker woes, the Gunners have set their sights on Eberechi Eze.

With the help of Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta, the three-peat Premier League runners-up have secured five official summer signings, with the Sweden international set to be announced imminently.

A move for the Crystal Palace playmaker could be the signing that moves Arsenal from second to lifting trophies, and he should be their priority target now.

Report: Arsenal Aiming to ‘Move Swiftly’ On Eberechi Eze Deal
The Gunners will target the Englishman after Gyokeres is finalised

Although, on paper, Arsenal’s team seems stacked for attacking midfielders, with Ethan Nwaneri and Martin Odegaard providing the Gunners with healthy depth, the move for Eze makes more sense than it appears.

A former Arsenal academy player, the 27-year-old is coming off the back of his most successful season yet, with the Gunners hoping to add him to their ranks.

Reports state that Berta is ready to go “all-in” on signing the playmaker. with an initial fee agreed between the clubs and negotiations ongoing over the structure and add-ons to finalise an agreement.

Crystal Palace don’t want to sell for any less than the £68m release clause in his contract, but the Gunners remain hopeful that a deal for less can be struck. It’s clear that the playmaker, who has been described as a ‘superstar’ wants the move too, even telling friends he wants to join.

Eze can Push Arsenal to the Premier League and Champions League
The Englishman may be a better fit than ‘dream’ target Rodrygo

All Arsenal’s summer business has centred around the club trying to take that final step from being good to being good enough.

Falling short at every hurdle under Mikel Arteta, with the Premier League and the Champions League evading the Gunners’ trophy cabinet in recent decades, the recent increase in depth and quality is what the north London side has needed.

Ensuring they don’t give in to injuries and have the quality on the bench to change games, a vital piece that could ensure Arsenal become winners again, could be the signing of Eze.

A playmaker that has been involved with links to the club by Fabrizio Romano, along with Rodrygo of Real Madrid, who has been referred to as Arsenal’s “dream” signing”, it is clear the club are targeting a left-winger alongside Gyokeres.

With Rodrygo’s desire to be a left-winger, something that has increasingly become impossible at Madrid, owing to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr’s existence, a move to Arsenal would allow him to flourish in a position that the Gunners need improvement in.

However, Eze would allow Arteta to keep up his habit of signing versatile players who can perform anywhere. The Englishman would be able to operate on the left, as well as take up central spaces on the pitch if a game required it, a flexibility that might not be available to Rodrygo.

That type of versatility and quality could be the difference maker in the Premier League and Champions League, and makes Eze the perfect signing to take the team to the next level over the Brazilian.
