Sources indicate that Ederson has “opened the door” to a potential move to Newcastle United after his proposed transfer to Manchester United collapsed despite advanced negotiations.

According to Football Insider, the Brazilian midfielder could now be on his way to St James’ Park after his move to Old Trafford fell through. Meanwhile, Bruno Guimarães has been linked with Arsenal, and Joe Willock’s future also remains uncertain.

The Magpies have already signed Sean Steur from Ajax and have long admired Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his midfield this summer following Sandro Tonali’s reported £100 million move to Tottenham.

As revealed on Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Newcastle could now revive their interest in the Brazilian after Manchester United abandoned the deal.

The Red Devils had reportedly agreed a £37.8 million fee with Atalanta for Ederson but pulled out after a knee issue was discovered during his medical. They instead turned their attention to other targets, completing deals for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

Newcastle are now monitoring the situation closely, with Howe believed to be a long-time admirer of the 27-year-old.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, it was said:

> “He’s a player Newcastle have looked at before and really like, so the collapse of his move to Manchester United has potentially opened the door for them to make their move.

> “Atalanta are relatively relaxed about the situation. They were surprised Manchester United didn’t complete the transfer, but they are happy to reintegrate Ederson into the squad.”

Archie Gray has also emerged as a Newcastle target amid uncertainty over his role at Tottenham.

Football Insider reports that the young midfielder could be viewed as a potential replacement if Bruno Guimarães leaves this summer.

With Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes joining Spurs, Gray has reportedly slipped further down the midfield pecking order ahead of the new season.

He has been linked with several clubs, and Newcastle are understood to be considering a move. While it remains unclear whether Gray is prepared to leave Tottenham, the promise of regular first-team football at Newcastle could persuade him.
