Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare for squad refresh in key summer window
In-demand winger Yeremay Hernandez has addressed speculation about his future amid suggestions he is on Nottingham Forest’s radar.
The Reds are likely to have strengthening out wide on their agenda this summer as they aim to continue on an upward curve in 2025/26. And with the transfer window fast approaching, Deportivo La Coruna youngster Hernandez has been linked with a move to the City Ground.
Forest were reportedly keen on him in January and appear to have renewed their interest as the end of the current campaign nears. Bournemouth and Brentford are also said to have an interest in the 22-year-old, while he has admirers in Italy, Germany and France.
Hernandez has said he is focused on the remaining games of the season in Spain. However, amid suggestions an exit could be on the cards, he has hinted he has no idea what could happen next.
“Right now, the normal thing would be to stay at Depor,” he told La Opinion A Coruna. “Then I don’t know what might happen. Nobody knows.
“People can think, they can imagine, I have a contract until 2030. I don’t think about what might happen, even though it’s often difficult. I think about the moment, the now.”
Fans are said to have made it clear they want Hernandez to stay put in Spain. Hearing supporters chant in his favour makes him “very happy”, although he “understands” people are talking about his future.
“The reality is that I’m a Depor player,” he added. “In January I renewed my contract again and right now I’m focused on Depor because it’s my team.
“People can think a lot of things. Today, I’m a Depor player. I have, if not the longest contract, one of the longest. I’m calm and focused on Depor 100 percent.”
Como, Bologna, Atalanta, Parma, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Nice, Lens, Marseille, Strasbourg, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund all reportedly had their eye on Hernandez in January. His list of potential suitors is said to have grown since then.
Amid all the interest, Hernandez put pen to paper on fresh terms earlier this year. His new contract keeps him tied down to Deportivo until 2030 and is said to include a €35 million (£29m) release clause.
According to La Opinion A Coruna, there is expected to be interest in the wide man in the summer. It is said “there are many options” that involve him heading elsewhere before the transfer window closes.
Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo made recruiting wingers a priority 12 months ago. Ramon Sosa and Jota Silva arrived at the City Ground to provide competition and cover for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.
However, the two newcomers have found it tough going this term as they adapt to English football and both have been linked with moves away. Additionally, there is interest in Hudson-Odoi as Napoli, Roma and AC Milan all have him on their radar.
