‘Definitely among the top two’- Pundit Lee Hendrie backs Blues for top two in Championship
Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie believes Ipswich Town will bounce straight back up from the Championship next season.
The Blues are heading back to the second tier at the first time of asking, following back-to-back promotions.
But, while fellow relegated sides Southampton and Leicester City are in turmoil, Town are united behind boss Kieran McKenna and have a squad which looks set to take the Championship by storm.
Even with the expected departure of star striker Liam Delap, and potentially one or two others, the Blues are packed with players who have shone in the second tier before – the likes of Sammie Szmodics, Jack Clarke, Jacob Greaves, Alex Palmer, Leif Davis and Jaden Philogene.

And Hendrie believes that makes them favourites to immediately challenge for automatic promotion again.
“My gut feeling, do I think Ipswich will be top-two contenders in the Championship? Yes, I do,” Hendrie told Football Insider.
“I think they’ll try and go again. I think they’ve had a taste of what it was. They’ve had that fantastic run of promotions, Kieran McKenna’s done an unbelievable job, and I think they’ll go again, I really do.
“I think they’ll be right in the thick of things. Obviously, league payments are always healthy and always nice to have, despite the relegation.
“I think they will be definitely, definitely among the top two.”
