Wolves are set to accelerate talks with Elliott’s representatives over a potential deal, according to GMS sources, with there being determination to get an early indication of whether he would genuinely be prepared to embark on a fresh challenge in the aftermath of winning the Premier League title with Liverpool.
The midfielder is preparing to enter the final two years of a contract which allows him to pocket £40,000-per-week and, having struggled to work his way into the forefront of Reds boss Arne Slot’s plans, Wanderers are viewing the summer transfer window as a possible opportunity to pounce.
GMS sources have been informed that Wolves have the most concrete interest in Elliott at this stage and, after seeing him rack up six goal involvements over the course of five starts in all competitions this season, Pereira is open to handing him the chance to become the talisman within his side if Cunha departs.
But there is an awareness that the England under-21 international will not come cheap as Liverpool are looking to hold out for up to £50million for his signature, meaning that there is a possibility of there having to be big-money outgoings from Molineux in order to facilitate a move in the coming months.
Elliott’s current employers are not looking to force him out of Anfield, GMS sources have learned, but all parties are open-minded about him heading through the exit door if a suitable offer from Wolves or another interested party is lodged as preparations are made for the 2025/26 campaign.

GMS sources have been told that Wolves may have been handed a significant boost in their pursuit as Liverpool’s sudden desire to win the race to recruit Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has highlighted that Elliott is not on course to become one of the first names on the team sheet if he remains on Merseyside.
Although the 22-year-old has been described as ‘frightening’ by journalist Leanne Prescott, he would be in line to fall further down the pecking order if the Reds succeed in raiding last season’s Bundesliga champions and his chances of breaking into the preferred starting line-up would be severely hindered.
Liverpool are willing to sanction Elliott’s departure if the right proposal comes along during the summer transfer window, GMS sources understand, and uncertainty over the amount of game time he can expect at Anfield could end up playing into Wolves’ hands as Pereira goes in search of filling the potential void left by Cunha.
But GMS sources recently revealed that Wanderers’ push to reach an agreement for the former Fulham youngster may be complicated thanks to domestic counterparts Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and overseas suitors also circling as they make preparations for next term.
