Vitor Pereira comments on Matheus Cunha to Manchester United transfer
On Monday morning, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Cunha’s transfer to Manchester United is being finalised.
It was news that Wolves fans have been expecting to hear, but that didn’t make the timing any better, with two games of the season left to play.
Cunha wanted his future decided before the end of the campaign, and the Brazilian appears to have got his wish.
In his pre-match press conference, Pereira was asked to comment on the news of Cunha’s transfer to Old Trafford developing.
“I have the same information as you,” Pereira said with a smile on his face.
“I really don’t know. I know he’s my player, and he’s committed. We’ll see, but he’s happy.”
The Wolves manager insisted that the forward remains ‘happy’ at the club, despite the fact that his time at Molineux is almost certainly coming to a close.
It’s a difficult situation for Pereira to comment on, as the boss is fully focused on his team at present, clearly aiming to ignore any outside noise.
Peculiar timing for Cunha to Manchester United
Ignoring outside noise and focusing on the season is exactly what Cunha should’ve done, but instead, the 25-year-old decided to comment on his desire to leave Wolves.
Every sign is now pointing towards Cunha completing a transfer to Man United, and putting a Wolves point of view aside, it’s a rather strange decision from the Old Gold’s star man.
For starters, Man United will not be in Europe next season unless they win the Europa League, something that will be decided this week.
Added to that, Cunha will move to Man United at one of the most testing times in the club’s history, as Ruben Amorim aims to turn the Red Devils’ flaws around, which won’t be an instant fix.
The Brazilian is likely to leave Wolves to become part of a United squad that is very much in transition, making his decision to fly the nest at this time to join Amorim’s project rather peculiar.
