Granit Xhaka, the former Arsenal midfielder whose tenure at the club was a rollercoaster of highs and lows, recently opened up about the possibility of returning to the North London club.

The Swiss international, who now plies his trade at AS Roma, spent six memorable years at Arsenal, and his love for the club remains palpable.

In a recent interview, Xhaka reminisced about his time with the Gunners, describing it as one filled with passion, challenges, and personal growth. “Arsenal will always have a special place in my heart,” he stated, highlighting the emotional connection he formed with the fans and the city.

His departure in the summer of 2022 was bittersweet; while it was a chance for new beginnings in Serie A, the memories of the Emirates Stadium and its faithful supporters lingered.

The topic of a return has been a hot one among Arsenal supporters, especially in light of the club’s recent resurgence under the management of Mikel Arteta. Xhaka is open to the idea, emphasizing the mutual respect he maintains for the club and its hierarchy.

“I know how passionate the fans are and how much they care for the team,” he remarked. “If the situation ever arose, I would have to consider it seriously.”

Fans have often debated what Xhaka might bring to an Arsenal side that’s evolving rapidly. During his time at the club, he was often subject to criticism, but it was evident that his playmaking abilities, leadership qualities, and tenacity were integral to the squad. Leaving a mark on the club’s history, Xhaka’s composed style and fierce determination saw him become a fan favorite for many, despite the controversies that at times surrounded his playing career.

Interestingly, the idea of returning to a club previously met with ups and downs signifies not only Xhaka’s fondness for Arsenal but also his growth as a player. At Roma, he has honed his skills further, thriving in a more tactical Italian setup.

“I’ve learned a lot in Italy. It’s a different style, much more defensive, but it has made me more complete as a player,” he said, hinting that he believes such experiences would allow him to contribute even more effectively, should he return.

Arsenal supporters remain divided about a possible return, with hope and nostalgia significantly coloring the discourse. Regardless of what the future holds, Xhaka’s affinity for the club is undisputed, leaving many to wonder if this could be a story of redemption, closure, or another chapter in the ongoing saga of his career.
