Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has been given a glowing report by one journalist, who has stated that he deserves more credit.
After a crazy Championship play-off semi-final, Sunderland now have Sheffield United standing in the way of promotion to the Premier League.
Sunderland scored in the dying seconds through Dan Ballard, with the giant centre-back notching a fine header to send the Stadium of Light faithful into raptures.
The season as a whole, barring a late poor run of form, has seen Sunderland respond brilliantly to last season, where they finished 16th in the Championship. Whilst Regis Le Bris deserves unwavering credit for such an achievement, one Black Cats journalist has thrown another name into the hat, suggesting that owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has done one thing that doesn’t get enough credit.

Considering the position that the Black Cats were in half a decade ago, there has been a significant improvement, both on-and-off the pitch.
The feeling of jubilation and optimism on Wearside has been alien for the best part of the last decade, and much of the club’s upwards trajectory has coincided with the Louis-Dreyfus’ tenure as owner.
As someone who has helped transform the club for the better, Sunderland journalist Michael Graham has sent praise the way of the Black Cats owner, who he believes should be handed more recognition.
“It’s been 1549 days since Kyril Louis-Dreyfus bought Sunderland,” Graham wrote on X. “Might not be our year, but to take Sunderland from utter misery in League One to one game away from the Premier League in such a short timeframe is pretty remarkable.
“Still don’t think he gets the credit he deserves.

After the lacklustre and disappointing 2023/24 season, there was plenty of uncertainty surrounding which coach would lead Sunderland for the upcoming campaign.
Several names were passed over, whether they weren’t the correct fit for the club, or the coach didn’t believe it was in his best interests to take on the major job at hand at Sunderland.
Despite criticism from the Sunderland fanbase, Louis-Dreyfus didn’t rush into a decision, opting for the bold call of French coach Regis Le Bris, a man with no experience in English football.
Not many would have expected Le Bris to deliver such a successful campaign for the Black Cats, having led them so close to the Premier League. Even if Sunderland do fall at the last hurdle, there is still no taking away from the job Le Bris has done this season, as well as Louis-Dreyfus’ decision to bring him in.
