With news from The Daily Mail that Newcastle United have reportedly scouted Coventry City attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni – Sky Blues’ fans should brace themselves for a long summer window.
This development comes after Coventry’s heartbreaking Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland – after Dan Ballard’s extra-time winner meant Frank Lampard’s side fell agonisingly short of a shot at Wembley.
Rudoni has enjoyed a very fruitful campaign under Lampard, registering ten goals and 13 assists in 50 games – his impressive performances have clearly caught the attention of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle – who are set to have a lot more financial freedom this summer as their PSR challenges ease.

Rudoni’s stats speak for themselves, ten goals and 12 assists in the league represent a figure that few other players in the division can match – he ranks 7th for goals + assists in the second tier this past season.
He was regularly playing in either the left of a midfield three or in his favoured attacking midfield role – where he enjoyed most of his success under Lampard.
Even though Rudoni still has three years left on his contract – he only signed last year, the Magpies won’t be put off by a move due to the amount of money at their disposable – Forbes say they have a revenue of £250m.

Aside from Rudoni – Milan van Ewijk, who made a costly-error in the second leg of the play-offs – could easily attract Premier League interest, with Sky Blues being linked with Kaine Kesler-Hayden themselves – it could be a like-for-like replacement.
Haji Wright is another that has been previously touted for a move elsewhere – with TBR Football saying that Leicester City and Ipswich Town were interested in the January window.
