Crystal Palace ‘considering a move’ for Leeds United transfer target fresh off FA Cup win

Crystal Palace and Leeds United will be going head to head in the Premier League next season. And a certain striker could end up joining one or the other this summer.

Leeds United already have a number of strikers on their summer transfer wishlist, and a number of players in various positions too with Daniel Farke looking like he’s ready for a busy summer.

The summer transfer window opens on June 1st for teams in the Premier League. It’ll mark the start of what is a crucial summer for the club and for Farke too, with the German’s position at the club having been contested since the end of the 2024/25 season.

There were rumours that Leeds United were considering sacking Farke despite promotion to the Premier League. A poor start to next season then could quickly see him replaced as the 49ers eye up a long-term future in the top flight.

Signing Premier League experienced-players will be key for the Whites this season and one player rumoured to be a target at Elland Road is departing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

Crystal Palace now targeting Jamie Vardy move this summer

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Vardy ahead of the 38-year-old’s contract expiring at Leicester City this summer. Already we’re seeing a number of clubs take a look at the Premier League legend including teams in the MLS, as well as newly-promoted Championship side Wrexham.

Now though, journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed on X that Crystal Palace are also weighing up a move for Vardy, following the Eagles’ FA Cup final win over Man City over the weekend.

O’Rourke doesn’t mention Leeds, though. He’s posted on X: “Crystal Palace are considering a move for Jamie Vardy on a free transfer. A number of clubs are chasing the Leicester star when he becomes a free agent this summer.”

The latest on Leeds United’s search for a new striker

Signing a couple more strikers this summer will be key for Farke whose options are very limited right now, especially considering that Patrick Bamford could leave and that Mateo Joseph is now a target for Real Betis too.

And Leeds have a few out-and-out no.9s on their radar right now. AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott has been linked with Leeds United although little has been said about the former Spurs man since his initial link earlier in the month.

Everton striker Beto is also a target. The latest on that front is that Besiktas want to sign Beto this summer and so that could now be a difficult pursuit for Farke.

Elsewhere, Celtic striker Daizen Maeda is a target for Leeds United and it’s been suggested that Celtic would accept an offer of £25million for Maeda this summer, so that’s a possibility for Leeds United, albeit an expensive one.
