Derby County Plot Sensational Swoop for Midfield Maestro – Major Transfer Twist Incoming
Derby County are reportedly among a host of Championship clubs keeping tabs on Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon.
Lincoln are facing a battle to keep hold of their prized asset with speculation again linking him with a move away from Sincil Bank.
Erhahon was linked with Preston and Plymouth back in January but now reports claim that more clubs have joined the queue for the talented midfielder.
Derby, Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United are all said to be interested in the 24-year-old who is recognised as one of League One’s most exciting talents.
But Lincoln director of football Jez George has already laid out the conditions for a sale with the Imps wanting to bank a club-record fee.
Harry Toffolo was their best ever sale when Huddersfield paid £640,000 to sign the left-back under their previous manager Danny Cowley – and it may take a million before Lincoln part company for Erhahon.
Derby are looking to add to their midfield in what promises to be a busy summer for head coach John Eustace as he looks to put his own stamp on the team.
Erhahon is widely viewed as a defensive midfielder who is comfortable taking the ball off the back four with a pass completion rate of 83 per cent this season.
The 24-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, is also noted for his destructive qualities making 1.8 inteceptions on average per game.
Last summer George said of the midfielder: “I don’t think clubs in the Championship will be doing their jobs properly if there wasn’t interest.
“If the right club comes in with the right financial package for Ethan that could be life changing, quadrupling his wages, and it is an absolutely huge number for Lincoln City – money we can (use to) overall try and strengthen in lots of different areas – then as a football club we have to look at that.”
