Ipswich Town academy product Alan Fleischer has confirmed his departure from the club, bringing an end to a journey that has spanned over ten years.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper first joined the Blues at the under-9s level, steadily progressing through the youth ranks with determination and promise. In the summer of 2023, Fleischer began a two-year scholarship with the academy, aiming to make his mark in the club’s competitive youth setup.
During his time at Ipswich, Fleischer established himself as a consistent presence for the under-18s side, showcasing his shot-stopping abilities and maturity beyond his years. His performances earned him a long-awaited debut for the under-21s earlier this season in a match against Hull City—a milestone that highlighted his upward trajectory.
Seeking senior experience, Fleischer was loaned out to Essex-based Heybridge Swifts, who competed in the Isthmian League North Division. The move was seen as a valuable opportunity to test himself in a more physically demanding environment. Unfortunately, his loan spell was cut short due to injury, halting his momentum at a crucial stage of his development.
Undeterred by the setback, Fleischer continued to pursue opportunities to further his career. Just last month, he went on trial with Championship outfit Sunderland, where he featured for the Black Cats’ under-18s side. The experience offered a fresh platform for the young keeper to demonstrate his potential at a higher level and attract interest from other clubs.
