Exclusive: Joel Piroe hit by devastating Leeds blow

Leeds United will not build their attack around Championship top scorer Joel Piroe in the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.

He scored the second-tier’s most goals in the 2024-25 campaign with 19 as Leeds won the title ahead of rivals Burnley.

However, it is believed Leeds have question marks over Piroe’s ability to make the step up and will not count on him as their first-choice striker next season.

The Dutch striker joined the Whites from Swansea in 2023 and has been crucial for Daniel Farke’s side in the last two seasons.

Leeds have Piroe question marks

Piroe, who cost Leeds over £10million, is under contract at Elland Road until June 2027.

He has hit 33 goals in 97 appearances across all competitions for the Yorkshire giants, also notching 10 assists.

Leeds will be active in the transfer market this summer as they bid to secure Premier League survival with promoted trio Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester relegated this term.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 May) that Leeds have set their sights on 10 new signings as they prepare to return to the top flight.

Meanwhile, chairman Paraag Marathe has ended speculation over Farke‘s future by confirming he will remain as boss into next season.

Major Jack Harrison update at Leeds

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (5 May) that Jack Harrison is not likely to return to Leeds for the 2025-26 campaign despite their promotion.

Everton and David Moyes are yet to decide whether to pursue a permanent move for the winger.

Harrison has three years left to run on his contract at Elland Road but it is believed he will have to look for a new club elsewhere if the Toffees decline to sign him.
