Alberto isn’t the only former player of Pereira’s from Brazil that the Portuguese coach is eyeing, as Flamengo midfielder Evertton Araujo is on Wolves’ transfer radar.
The Old Gold were the topic of news regarding Evertton this week, as Brazilian outlet Coluna do Fla noted the five-club race to sign the 22-year-old.
Eintracht Frankfurt, Sevilla, Villarreal and Getafe have joined Wolves in the race to sign the Flamengo star, who has already been contacted by the West Midlands club.
Coluna do Fla noted that Wolves made contact with Evertton in February at the request of Pereira, who wants to reconnect with the defensive midfielder.
Frankfurt have had scouts present in Brazil to watch Pereira’s former scholar in action, with all eyes on where in Europe the 2003-born star decides to take his next steps.
How much Wolves would have to pay for Evertton
One of the decisive factors for Wolves will, of course, be how much Evertton would cost to purchase.
Amid building interest around the player, journalist Bruno Lemos noted that despite Evertton having a release clause of £54m, it’s understood that Flamengo have set their minimum asking price at just £9m.
Wolves have struck gold in the South American market when it comes to midfielders, particularly Brazil, having signed Andre and Joao Gomes for a minimal price with regard to their impact on the team.
