“I expect”- Paul Merson makes his score prediction as Newcastle United takes on Ipswich Town on Saturday
Newcastle United are looking to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat against Aston Villa this weekend with a win against Ipswich Town.
The Tractor Boys are all but relegated and nothing short of a win will keep their Premier League dream alive beyond Saturday evening, however, if West Ham avoid defeat against Brighton, Ipswich Town’s result becomes moot and they will be relegated.
We can’t imagine any world in which those Ipswich Town players will be coming into this game with any real hope or motivation, so it will be the perfect opportunity for Newcastle to banish the memory of last week with a resounding victory at St James’ Park.
Newcastle also have the added boost of Eddie Howe being back at work after his bout of pneumonia, which will no doubt spur the side on even more.
Paul Merson just can’t help himself, can he?
Writing his score prediction for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson is absolutely convinced that a Newcastle win is the only outcome from this game.
“This fixture is the reason why Chelsea have to win because Newcastle are definitely getting three points here. I can’t see anything else happening. I know that defeat against Aston Villa would have hurt Newcastle so much. They were flying before that and the emotions of joy were so high at the club ever since the Carabao Cup win.
“Listen, everybody is allowed to have a bad game. I expect them to take that loss to Villa on the chin and bounce back with a comfortable win.

“Alexander Isak is expected to attract interest from a few clubs this summer. But I feel like he could play the waiting game before he decides on his future.
“Newcastle could be playing Champions League football next season and have already tasted silverware. Let’s not forget that they are a big club and if they qualify for the Champions League, they are an attractive project to be a part of for any player. I think Isak surely wants to be involved in the Champions League next season and that could play a key role here. Arsenal seem like the best possible move for him if he leaves Newcastle though. If the Gunners get him, they will win the league by 10 points!

It also seems like Merson is alternating weeks where he pointlessly speculates on the future of Alexander Isak and the likelihood of him moving to Arsenal, which is nil, by the way, Paul. Just stick to predicting the scores in your score prediction column.
A 3-0 win would be very welcome on Saturday and would go some way to righting the wrong of last week.
