Leeds United set for fresh striker bid after £10M rejection following James McAtee decision
The regular Championship campaign may have just finished a few weeks ago but Leeds United will be working hard behind the scenes ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
49ers Enterprises are expected to back Daniel Farke in transfer markt with a reported budget of £100million available to the German head coach to strengthen his squad.
There have been plenty of big names already linked with a move to Elland Road, while a number of the promotion winning squad have also been linked with moves away from Leeds
With that in mind, LeedsLive has take a look at the latest transfer rumours heading into the upcoming summer transfer window:
La Liga side ‘working hard’ to sign Whites’ striker
Mundo Deportivo claims Real Betis will make another move to sign Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph this summer having had a £10m bid rejected in the last January transfer window.
The report claims the La Liga side will hold talks with the newly promoted Whites as soon as their season finishes. Real Betis have also been linked with summer swoops for Junior Firpo, who is in talks with Leeds over a new deal, but as things stand, will leave the club when his contract expires.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side will play the final game of their season in the Conference League Final, when they face Chelsea on May 28th, before turning attention to transfer talks with Joseph.
The Spanish youth international scored three times and notched three asissts in 41 games in all competitions for the Whites and his current contract expires in the summer fo 2028.
LeedsLive says: “Despite the Whites turning down an approach in January, Joseph has struggled in front of goal and not been able to force his way into the starting line-up. Should a similar bid come in, you expect the club to seriously consider an offers given the need to strengthen up front. He may be highly thought of, but at 21-years-old, he needs more goal contributions if he is to stay at the club.”
Leeds United step closer to James McAtee transfer as Man City decision confirmed
Pep Guardiola’s harsh decision dropping James McAtee from Manchester City’s FA Cup final squad has sparked further transfer links with Leeds United.
No other City player has scored more goals in the FA Cup this season than McAtee. The 22-year-old Englishman bagged a hat-trick in his side’s 8-0 thrashing of Salford City.
But despite playing a pivotal role in City’s progression during the tournament, Guardiola cut the youngster from his team for the final – he wasn’t even on the bench.
McAtee isn’t likely to be impressed by the decision, especially when his midfield replacement was 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri who came on at the 76th minute mark to make his debut for the Premier League giants. The omission has only added fuel to the fire when it comes to McAtee possibly leaving City.
LeedsLive says: “McAtee is clearly highly thought of at Man City, but his ommission from the matchday squad will only frustrate the midfielder even more. A move to Elland Road could be the best thing for his career in the long run.”
