Mark Clattenburg says whether Everton should have been awarded a penalty vs Chelsea
Everton were sent back to Merseyside without anything to show from their trip to Chelsea on Saturday.
David Moyes will not have been overly impressed by the showing from his side in west London.
The Toffees did look like a side who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
Everton are keen to add a new striker alongside other forwards in the market, with the Friedkins ready to put their stamp on the squad.
The opportunities for Beto against Chelsea came few and far between as Everton struggled going forward, especially in the first 45 minutes.
There were some appeals for a penalty in the first half for the visitors and Mark Clattenburg has shared his thoughts on the incident with Everton News.

Tim Sherwood criticised Jordan Pickford for his role in Chelsea’s only goal of the afternoon at Stamford Bridge as Everton failed to produce much at the other end.
More opportunities came in the second half, but there were some appeals for an Everton penalty after Moises Caicedo seemingly tripped Beto inside the box.
Speaking to Everton News, former Premier League referee Clattenburg admitted there was one key reason why Caicedo was not penalised.
“I am sure Everton fans will want a penalty for a challenge on Beto by Caicedo inside the Chelsea penalty area,” he said.
“However, the VAR would have seen a foul by Ndiaye which knocks Caicedo into Beto and therefore a free kick would have been awarded and not a penalty kick.”
Clattenburg thought Everton should have had a penalty against Nottingham Forest just the other week.
But it seems as if he actually feels the officials got this one right at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
David Moyes says Everton simply cannot score goals
After landing back on Merseyside in January, Moyes wanted a new forward to be signed in the winter transfer window.
Everton are set to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of his contract and Armando Broja who will return to Chelsea from his loan.
Although they have now returned, injuries to Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye have really put the pressure on players like Jack Harrison.
Unfortunately, Moyes has not really seen his forwards step up and he did not hold back in his analysis after the game on Saturday.
“It’s noticeable that we can’t quite score. We didn’t score last week,” Moyes said after the game.
“We didn’t get a goal today. Our set-pieces were atrocious today, which didn’t help us from that point of view.”
