Millwall star seals Premier League transfer as Watford hold Ipswich Town to £8m ransom
Watford are having to bat off transfer interest in a key midfielder from Ipswich Town after their relegation from the Premier League.
Millwall striker Zian Flemming has completed a move to Premier League side Burnley following his loan spell at Turf Moor this season.
The 26-year-old helped the Clarets achieve promotion to the Premier League, Scott Parker’s side finishing second and level on points with Champions Leeds United. Flemming bagged 12 league goals during his time with the side and finished the campaign in strong form with nine of his strikes coming since the turn of the year.
Flemming’s loan move to Burnley came with the obligation to buy and Millwall confirmed on Thursday that the temporary stint had indeed been made permanent. The striker was the Lions’ top scorer for the 2023/24 season and the club invested in new arrivals after his departure – namely Serbian bagsman Mihailo Ivanovic and Middlesbrough loanee Josh Coburn.

A statement on the Millwall website on Thursday read: “Millwall Football Club can confirm Zian Flemming will complete a permanent transfer to Burnley upon the opening of the transfer window on 1st June 2025. Departing for an undisclosed fee, Flemming left for Burnley on loan initially in August 2024, with The Clarets obligated to buy the Dutchman in the following summer transfer window.
“Flemming, who joined The Lions in the summer of 2022, made 92 appearances for the club across two seasons, scoring 23 goals. He also won the club’s Player of the Season award in 2022/23, finishing top scorer as he hit the back of the net 15 times. The club would like to thank Zian for his service whilst at Millwall and wish him all the best for the future.”
The loan-to-buy moves do sometimes hit a snag but Burnley had already stated the player would join the club on a permanent basis in their retained list. Millwall have now doubled down on that.
Flemming had been targeted by Burnley when the club were in the Premier League and that interest was still present 12 months ago when the Clarets were relegated to the Championship. The South London Press reported that last summer’s transfer came with the obligation to buy the striker for £7 million.
Watford hold Ipswich Town to £8 million ransom
Watford will not sell midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru for any less than £8 million this summer as Ipswich Town weigh up another bid for the 25-year-old.
That’s according to Football League World with the outlet claiming that the Tractor Boys have already made one enquiry but were put off by the Hornet’s asking price. Dele-Bashiru made 27 appearances last season but missed a chunk of action between October and January with a serious knee injury.
The midfielder has emerged as a target for Ipswich Town following their relegation to the Championship. He signed a new deal at Vicarage Road 12 months ago with that set to expire in 2026, although the club have the option of another year.
