“New Cunha replacement target”- Wolves are showing interest in signing ‘special’ £45M forward from Premier League rivals
Wolverhampton Wanderers are now showing interest in signing a “special” forward from a rival Premier League club this summer, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey.

At one stage this season, Wolves’ Premier League status was in real doubt, but there has been a remarkable turnaround in fortunes at Molineux, winning their last five games on the spin to move 17 points clear of the bottom three.
As such, Vitor Pereira can now start to plan for the summer, safe in the knowledge his side will be in the top flight next season, and there may be a particular need to strengthen in attacking areas, given that Matheus Cunha could be on the verge of joining Manchester United.
Earlier this month, the Old Gold were linked with a move for FC Twente attacking midfielder Sem Steijn, who has been in remarkable form this season, with the Dutchman scoring 23 goals in the Eredivisie.
Steijn’s exploits in the Netherlands indicate he could go some way to replacing Cunha’s goals, but there may be a slight concern about his lack of experience in a major European league.
According to Bailey, in a report for The Boot Room, Wolves could now look to sign a forward with a plethora of experience at the top level, namely Chelsea’s Joao Felix, who has been told he can speak to clubs about a move this summer.
Felix has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues, which could open the door for a move to Molineux, with the Old Gold showing an interest in a loan move, although there could be competition for his signature from Premier League rivals West Ham United.
The Portugal international arrived at Stamford Bridge for £45m, but it is unclear how much Chelsea would be looking to receive to sanction a permanent departure.
“Special” Felix could reignite career at Molineux
The 2024-25 campaign has been difficult for the 25-year-old, having been shipped out on loan to AC Milan, where he has failed to make a name for himself, failing to score and picking up just one assist in the Serie A.
However, the Portuguese forward’s previous exploits indicate he could reignite his career at Molineux, having picked up seven goals and three assists for Barcelona in La Liga last season.
The former Barcelona man has also been lauded as a “special” player by ex-teammate Alvaro Morata, and he has a great deal of experience at the top level, having impressed at times during spells with Atlético Madrid and Chelsea.
While the move to Chelsea hasn’t worked out, Felix has shown enough promising signs to indicate he could be an exciting addition for Wolves, and the forward would be a low-risk signing if he were available on a loan deal.
