The Championship is a different beast to League One, though, and Wrexham need major additions in order to keep moving forward.
Aaron Cresswell is being linked with Wrexham whilst Tom Cairney has been linked towards the STōK Cae Ras.
Both players are experienced performers at the highest level, but Parkinson also feels Wrexham need real athleticism.
Speaking to The Athletic, Parkinson noted that Wrexham need to recruit pace and power in order to deal with the demands of the Championship.
That isn’t to say those experienced heads aren’t athletic enough; they look after themselves incredibly well in order to play at such a high level.
Parkinson feels Wrexham need real speed and strength across the pitch, though, and will look to add those qualities in the summer window.
“The quality level goes up,” said Parkinson.
“Power and pace are key. You look at the physical data and it jumps from League Two to League One but then it goes up again (in the Championship), certainly in high-speed running and the sprint distance and the power of the players. We need to be ready for that,” he added.

Wrexham are yet to make a signing this summer, which isn’t exactly surprising given that we are still in May.
No deals seem absolutely imminent, but one interesting rumour emerged earlier this week.
Reports suggested Wrexham lead the race for Sunusi Ibrahim as the Nigerian forward considers leaving CF Montreal.
Ibrahim has been described as a ‘fast and powerful’ player, which fits perfectly into Parkinson’s desire to add more athleticism.
Ibrahim is far from the finished product, but Wrexham may view him as a talent to develop for the future.
We may see more players in the mould of Ibrahim being linked with Wrexham this summer, alongside experienced heads like Cairney and Cresswell as Parkinson looks to strike the right blend.
