REPORT: Wolves are set to make an audacious summer move for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s teammate who’s scored 21 goals this season
Wolves will be very busy this summer and the forward positions will surely be on the agenda for strengthening.
Wolves’ squad is likely to look very different in 2024/25, with a number of players set to depart.
Matheus Cunha is all but certain to leave with Manchester United strongly linked at the moment.
Pablo Sarabia, Goncalo Guedes, Hwang Hee-chan and Carlos Forbs could also leave, with the former out of contract and the latter to return to his parent club Ajax.
There is a feeling that Wolves need another striker, to provide cover and competition for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Fabio Silva will leave Wolves permanently.
And it’s also been suggested that Sasa Kalajdzic may seal a loan move away from Wolves this summer, rather than play in the first-team next term.
And this morning, there’s been a claim Wanderers could once again look to La Liga.
Wolves one to watch for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth
It’s been reported by Caught Offside that Wolves are in the mix to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth this summer.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the main focus of the article.
But it’s suggested both West Ham United and Wolves could be ones to watch for Sorloth, who has had a very productive season.
He’s scored 21 goals in total so far, with 17 of those coming in La Liga – only Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, Ante Budimir and Raphinha have scored more.
Four of those goals just came in one game, against Real Sociedad at the weekend.
But any move by Wolves would probably be unlikely. It’s stated that there is currently no indication that Sorloth will push to leave Atleti, and that he is relatively happy where he is.
Strand Larsen could help Wolves sign Sorloth
While there is probably only an outside chance of this transfer deal happening, it may not be totally out of the question.
That’s because Sorloth – who previously had a stint with Crystal Palace – currently has an international teammate already playing at Molineux.
Sorloth plays with Jorgen Strand Larsen in the Norway national team, and Wolves’ number nine could well help to sell the project to him.
That said, there is no word of an asking price from Atleti at this stage.
But it would likely be high, with Sorloth having only joined the club last summer and being in his prime. He has a contract until 2028, so it seems highly unlikely that he will be a Wolves player next season.
