Nottingham Forest are going to be in the market for some marquee signings if Champions League football is secured during the summer transfer window.
Forest has already been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, but he might prove out of reach for Evangelos Marinakis, despite his lofty ambitions
Champions League football is firmly within the grasp of Forest, who have their destiny in their own hands, with just five matches left to play in 2024/25.
Forest also want James McAtee and it does appear that new forward players are at the very top of the shortlist, which is currently being compiled by the club.
Nottingham Forest want Bryan Mbeumo
According to Give Me Sport, Forest are now keen to sign another player from Brentford, with Mbeumo being eyed should the Reds make the Champions League.
Landing him won’t come easily, with Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United all linked with the player previously and all could move in the summer.
Forest have identified Mbeumo as all of the noise around Matheus Cunha – a top target for the Reds – suggests that he’s hell-bent on joining Manchester United when the window reopens.
Mbeumo won’t come cheap from a Forest perspective, with Brentford placing a £50 million bounty on the head of the player who is comfortably the best at the G Tech Community Stadium.
The player is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, and although Brentford have an option to extend that by another year, it looks as though they’re facing a real fight to keep him.
Bryan Mbeumo stats 2024/25
Forest might be looking to schmooze Mbeumo next Thursday when he arrives at the City Ground to take on the Reds with Brentford.
Mbeumo has proved a wonderful addition to the Brentford squad and it’s perhaps strange that he’s never managed to take the Bees into Europe given his brilliance on the pitch.
That could prompt the 25-year-old into a move this summer, with the Cameroon international maybe feeling as though there is no time quite like the present to move on.
Mbeumo can play anywhere across the front three, and with that in mind, he’d prove a very useful addition to the ranks should Forest get a deal to sign him over the line.
