“The way he dances past defenders is scary”- Wolves Want to Sign Champions League Ace to Replace Cunha, Jorge Mendes Involved
Wolverhampton Wanderers could replace Matheus Cunha with Atletico Madrid winger Samuel Lino, as per Fichajes journalist Juanxito. Cunha is set to leave Molineux this summer and reports suggest a move to Manchester United is already a “done deal”.
The Brazilian signed a new contract in January which included a £62.5 million release clause that the Red Devils look likely to trigger. The 25-year-old has been excellent for Wolves this season, helping Vitor Pereira’s side avoid relegation. His departure will come as a blow, but it felt inevitable as the season progressed.
Samuel Lino a “Serious” Option to Replace Cunha at Wolves
He’d offer impressive versatility
The report states that Lino is “tipped to be a serious option” for Wolves this summer to replace Cunha. The 25-year-old has been in and out of Diego Simeone’s side at the Wanda Metropolitano. He’s displayed versatility, playing in his preferred left wing role as well as left-back and in central midfield.

It’s noted that super agent Jorge Mendes will oversee the deal as he did when the Premier League club signed Cunha from Atleti in December 2022, initially on loan, before sealing a permanent £35 million deal. There’s no word on Lino’s valuation, but he’s one of several players whose futures are uncertain.

Pereira believes Wolves will “build a strong team for next season” and targeting one of Atleti’s attackers who has caught the eye with his direct wingplay would be a good start. He has two years on his contract and could be persuaded on the move to follow in Cunha’s footsteps amid his rise at Molineux.
