Three Jack Rudoni replacements Coventry City could sign amid Sheffield United interest, including ‘luxury player’
Sheffield United are one of several Championship sides interested in Coventry City ace Jack Rudoni amid the summer transfer window.
Coventry City’s Championship campaign ended in last-minute misery in the play-off semi-final second leg at Sunderland.
Dan Ballard’s dramatic late header sent the Sunderland fans into scenes of carnage, and sent the Black Cats on their way to Wembley at the expense of the Sky Blues.
Following the semi-final defeat to eventual winners Sunderland, Lampard had been linked with the Southampton job, before former Lens boss Will Still was appointed.
It promises to be a busy transfer window at Coventry, and with the Blades eyeing up Jack Rudoni, EFL Analysis has outlined three potential options to replace the midfielder.

EFL Analysis understands that Sheffield United could raid Coventry to secure Rudoni’s services, given that Gustavo Hamer has “huge admirers” in the Premier League.
The Sky Blues will face a battle to retain Rudoni ahead of next season, with relegated duo Southampton and Leicester City keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old attacking midfielder.
Here, we have dissected three potential Rudoni replacements from Championship rivals.
Todd Cantwell
Blackburn Rovers ace Todd Cantwell could be a potential Rudoni replacement for the Sky Blues following his impressive campaign.
Cantwell produced three goals and seven assists for Valerien Ismael’s side this season as Rovers finished outside of the top-six on the final day.
Former Norwich City star Cantwell was pivotal to Rovers’ play-off push, and his recent comments regarding his future highlight that he could be a perfect addition for the Sky Blues’ high-possession style.
Via the Lancashire Telegraph, playmaker Cantwell said: “I think it is obvious I’m the type of player who wants and needs to be on the ball more than I have been at times this season.
“I would say a player who needs to be on the ball to create and to feel confident to make that final pass,
“I think as a luxury player or as a player who maybe can create something that other players can’t.”
While Cantwell has failed to reach the attacking output of Rudoni this season, both players are capable of creating chances and magic moments, which Cantwell could provide Coventry if Rudoni is snapped up by the Blades.
Grady Diangana
Another inventive forward who could fill the role of Rudoni’s departure is Grady Diangana.
Diangana would be a suitable replacement in the Sky Blues’ attack, especially with his West Brom contract expiring this summer.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder scored four goals and notched three assists in just 14 starts for the Baggies amid their top-six failure that saw Tony Mowbray sacked by West Brom.
Mowbray described departing Diangana as a “wonderful” footballer, and the Congolese international’s creativity could certainly help fill the void if Rudoni does depart the CBS Arena.
Josh Windass
At 31, Josh Windass is the more senior option than Cantwell or Diangana, but his qualities in the Championship are undeniable.
Sheffield Wednesday’s summer has been marred by Danny Rohl’s persistent links to moves away from Hillsborough, most recently seeing Werder Bremen pulling out of the pursuit.
Coventry could capitalise on the turmoil at the Owls and swoop to secure Windass’ services in place of Rudoni.
Windass, who has played down Sheffield Wednesday exit talk, impressively scored 13 goals and notched five assists in 44 Championship appearances for the Owls this season.
With the former Rangers forward approaching the final year of his current Owls contract, and his proven record in the second tier, the Englishman would make another suitable potential replacement if Rudoni is sought by Sheffield United this summer.
