Wolves have been linked with two new midfield additions
Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to be in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer as Vitor Pereira gets to work ahead of his first full season in charge at Molinuex.
The former FC Porto boss had mixed success in the winter window with the signings of Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga but struck gold with the addition of £16.5m defender Emmanuel Agbadou who brought great stability to a defence that had previously been leaking goals under Gary O’Neil.
Wolves were one of the most improved teams in the second half of the season under Pereira’s guidance as they secured a 16th placed finish, but are likely to be without standout performer Matheus Cunha, who is understood to be edging close to a blockbuster £62.5m move to Premier League rivals Manchester United after scoring 15 goals in 33 league matches last term.
The West Midlands outfit are expected to spend a large portion of that money on reinforcements as they aim to try and climb the table and avoid another relegation scrap next term after an alarming start to the campaign.
Wolverhampton Wanderers plot move for Tochi Chukwuani
Sturm Graz’s in-form defensive midfielder Tochi Chukwuani has emerged as a potential target for Wolves, according to local reports in Germany.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg explained via X, formerly known as Twitter: “Tochi Chukwuani could leave Austrian champions Sturm Graz this summer. The 22-year-old central midfielder has already received enquiries. His contract runs until 2028. Hoffenheim, Wolves and several clubs from France are interested in him.”
Chukwuani plays for Denmark at Under-21 level and is renowned for being an effective, tough-tackling defensive midfielder with a good eye for a pass. He’s played 36 times across all competitions this term, scoring three goals and has formed part of the Sturm Graz side that won the league with 19 wins, six draws and seven losses, finishing two points ahead of nearest rivals Red Bull Salzburg after a nail-biting title race for the Australian Bundesliga title.
Wolves target midfielder Casper Jander
Wolves and Premier League rivals Brentford are expected to battle it out to try and sign 22-year-old FC Nurnberg midfielder Casper Jander. The Germany Under-21 international scored three times and contributed nine assists in 33 appearances for a Nurnberg side that finished 10th in the second division of German football.
Sport Bild have covered comments made by Nurnberg’s director Joti Chatzialexiou in which he said the German club will enter into transfer talks once interested clubs meet their demands. He said: “There are people who are simply interested in the player. I would be too, if I were a level higher. But I have a very clear stance on this and know that at a certain point we’ll enter into talks.”
However, the Bavarian club are reluctant to part ways with the youngster for cheap and are seeking a figure of around £16m before entering into any discussions.
