Wolves make contact with Lazio over Taty Castellanos
Castellanos has enjoyed a good season over in Italy with Lazio.
The Argentina international has scored 10 goals in Serie A, and bagged a further four in the Europa League. Castellanos has also supplied eight assists.
His form has alerted a number of clubs going into the summer, and Wolves are said to be interested.
Now Tuttomercatoweb have provided an update on the situation.
Wolves have sought information from Lazio about Castellanos, and it’s also claimed that Wanderers would be willing to invest a fee of around £25 million to sign him.
Previously it had been suggested that Castellanos had a valuation of around £25-29 million.
Castellanos can play as a central striker but can also operate slightly deeper, suggesting he might be a handy addition for Wolves who, of course, play with two number 10s.
£25m on Castellanos would be a gamble by Wolves
It will be fascinating to see who Wolves go after this summer to serve as a back-up or competition to Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Castellanos has had a really productive season, but he would surely be a bit of a risk.
He is not particularly prolific, with an overall record of 20 goals in 85 games for Lazio. Before his spell in Italy, he hit 14 in 37 while on loan at Girona – which is not bad – and scored 59 in 134 for New York City FC.
Perhaps Wolves could seek to try and take Castellanos on loan first.
That is what the club did with Strand Larsen, with the club including an appearance-based obligation to buy.
Strand Larsen has been a major hit at Molineux, so maybe Wolves should try and see if Lazio would be open to a similar kind of arrangement.
