Wolves Want to Sign ‘Remarkable’ Forward as Cunha Exit Edges Closer

Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Holstein Kiel striker Phil Harres, according to a report from Football Insider.

Although Wolves have picked up some impressive results in recent months and are on an incredible run of form, it’s still been a disappointing season for the Midlands club. Vitor Pereira’s side looked destined to be in a relegation fight under Gary O’Neil, but they’ve turned things around and are safe from the drop.

Despite showing plenty of improvement, reinforcements will be necessary for Wolves if they want to go to the next level. As we head towards the summer transfer window, the Wanderers will be preparing and identifying targets before the market opens in just a few months.

Wolves Eyeing Move to Sign Phil Harres
He could be available for around £9m

According to a report from Football Insider, Wolves are one of the sides who are interested in signing Holstein Kiel striker Harres. It’s understood that the German club could demand in the region of £9m to allow him to head through the exit door in the summer transfer window.

Harres has scored eight goals in the Bundesliga this season from 24 appearances, although he’s found it difficult to get into the starting XI in recent weeks. Holstein Kiel are in a battle to remain in the top flight, currently sitting in 17th place, with the threat of relegation a real problem.

If the Bundesliga outfit are demoted to the second tier, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a player like Harres, who has been described as ‘remarkable’, searching for a move to a top league once again. Harres’ versatility could make him a useful option for Wolves, capable of playing through the middle as a striker or out wide.

Signing a striker might not seem like an immediate priority for Wolves, considering the impressive first season of Jorgen Strand Larsen, but adding a versatile attacker would be useful. Matheus Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his contract, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, and Manchester United are pushing to sign him, meaning he now looks likely to depart in the summer window.
