Millwall are faced with a battle to retain one of their star performers
Italian side Parma have reportedly prepared a formal offer in the region of £7m to sign talented Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic. Emilia-Romagna-based outfit finished 16th in Serie A last season after winning promotion and are aiming to assemble a team that is capable of consolidating their position in the top division of Italian football this season and in subsequent seasons.
The talented 21-year-old striker joined Millwall from Serbian side Vojvodina Fc two summers ago in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £2.8m. He arrived as something of an unknown quantity and was expected at the time to be one for the future that’d mainly compete with fellow summer signing Macaulay Langstaff.
However, he fared significantly better than his teammate in his first season at The Den, smashing in 12 goals in 37 Championship appearances while also being named as the club’s Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season winner.
What does the future hold for Mihailo Ivanovic?
Mihailo Ivanovic has quickly established himself as one of the most coveted young footballers at Championship level. He’s attracted interest from Championship side Leicester City and is now also attracting interest from Parma in the Seria A. Sky Sports believe that the Italian side’s offer of £7m has been turned down by Millwall initially while Football Insider has claimed the club will only budge if they receive an offer in excess of £10m.
Millwall have performed well under Alex Neil since he came in December, winning 17, drawing four and losing 10 across all competitions last season while also sitting on third position on the table this season with 18 games played. The Lions have won nine of their opening 18 racking up 31 points and are expected to be contenders for a play-off place finish this term
The capital club are thought to be in a strong financial position after selling Japhet Tanganga for a significant undisclosed fee and are only likely to sell Ivanovic if they receive an offer they can’t refuse.
How Millwall could look to replace Mihailo Ivanovic
Mihailo Ivanovic’s departure could leave Millwall with very little time to find a replacement. However, there’s still a few feasible targets that the club could add to their frontline. One of those, according to Fabrizio Romano, is Jusef Erabi of Hammarby IF. The 22-year-old Swedish forward has scored four in 18 top-flight matches in 2025 but did score eight in 23 last term. He’s scored four in eight matches for Sweden at Under-21 level and is viewed as one for the future.
Elsewhere, another option via the loan market, could be Manchester United prospect Chido Obi. The teenager got a taste of first team football last season with eight appearances and while not directly linked with Millwall at the moment could be an option after being made available for loan, according to The Express.
Meanwhile, an experienced name at Championship level that could also be targeted is Patrick Bamford. The 31-year-old agreed to mutually terminate his contract at Leeds United following their promotion to the Premier League and is currently without a club. He failed to score last term but does have an overall record of 69 goals from 217 matches at Championship level, although his wage demands could prove a barrier.
