adminOxford United have announced the signing of Luton Town defender Christ Makosso on loan until the end of the season.
The defender worked with Matt Bloomfield at Kenilworth Road and has been announced less than an hour before the U’s kick-off against Birmingham City in the Championship.
Makosso joins Oxford on loan with an option to buy as the U’s look to stay in the second tier this season.
The 21-year-old is the Yellows’ sixth signing of the January transfer window after Jamie Donley, Myles Peart-Harris, Yunus Konak, Jin-woo Jeon, and Jamie McDonnell all arrived in OX4 earlier this month.

After a spectacular 2-1 win over Leicester City last week at the King Power Stadium, Oxford are looking to win back-to-back games in the Championship for the first time this season and remain unbeaten under new boss Bloomfield.
The Congolese international will begin training on Monday ahead of Tuesday night’s game at Sheffield United.
Upon joining, Makosso told the club: “I’m very excited to be joining Oxford United and to be back playing in the Championship.
“I have a strong relationship with the gaffer. He played a big role in my development at Luton and knows my game inside out.

Head coach Bloomfield added: “When I arrived at Luton, Christ had just signed and was in the Under-21 side. It was immediately clear he had something special. He took his opportunity in the first team with real authority.
“Christ adapted quickly to the Championship, which is never easy for a young player arriving in a new country. Athletically he is exceptional. He is quick, powerful and brave, and defends the box with real conviction.
“He has an extremely high ceiling but, just as importantly, is ready to come in and improve the group right now.”

United’s head of football operations, Ed Waldron, said: “Christ is a young, high-potential defender who perfectly fits the profile we are targeting. He is athletic, aggressive and an outstanding box defender, with significant scope for further development.
