According to GiveMeSport, the two Championship sides are both considering an approach for the 24-year-old ahead of the new campaign.
Kieran McKenna is looking to build a team capable of fighting for promotion to the Premier League this season after suffering relegation from the top flight.
With Liam Delap already sold to Chelsea, perhaps Agyemang could be his replacement in the squad for next season.
Ipswich told to take Patrick Agyemang stance
When asked about the potential signing of Agyemang, FLW’s Ipswich fan pundit Adam Wilkin claimed he’s excited at the prospect of his arrival.
He believes that the 24-year-old has a lot of the qualities you need from a striker, and that it would be worth taking the risk to bring him from MLS club Charlotte FC.
“I’m actually really excited by the links to Patrick Agyemang,” Wilkin told Football League World.
“Of all of the strikers I’ve seen so far, he looks like the best fit to replace Liam Delap.
“In terms of his strengths, his pace, he looks like a good runner in behind, and I think that it doesn’t necessarily matter what the level the MLS is, which I think has improved in recent years, there’s a lot of good players playing over there now.
“A lot of South American players use it as a step up to getting a move to Europe, so I think it is good quality.
“Not too many American strikers have jumped over to the Championship, or the Premier League.
“I think more the Championship than the Premier League, so I don’t think that would be an issue, I think he’s got all of the raw attributes at just 24-years-old to be a very good Championship striker, and the knack for finding the net isn’t something that you lose too much.
“The Championship might be stronger, but he looks good on both feet, he’s got some great stats in terms of his dribbling ability, his ability to take people on.
“He can use both feet, I’ve watched some highlights and he’s finishing with both feet, he looks like he’s quite good in the air as well, he’s got headers, so he’s a bit of an all-round striker.
