Arsenal Monitoring Ipswich Town Star as Scouts Tracks Breakout Performer

Arsenal Continue Monitoring Ipswich Town Star Leif Davis as Transfer Interest Grows

Arsenal are reportedly continuing to monitor Ipswich Town left-back Leif Davis, with the Gunners keeping a close watch on one of the Championship’s standout defenders following another impressive campaign.

Club scouts are understood to have followed Davis on several occasions throughout the 2025/26 season as Mikel Arteta’s recruitment team assesses potential options to strengthen the left side of the defence.

Another Strong Season

Although Ipswich were unable to secure an immediate Premier League return, Davis once again proved why he is regarded as one of the EFL’s finest attacking full-backs.

The 26-year-old featured in 37 Championship matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists, while remaining one of Ipswich’s primary creative outlets from left-back. He also ranked among the club’s leading chance creators thanks to his excellent crossing ability, set-piece delivery and attacking movement down the flank.

Those numbers follow his remarkable 2023/24 promotion-winning campaign, when he produced 18 Championship assists—the highest total in the division—as Ipswich secured promotion under Kieran McKenna.

Why Arsenal Like Him

Davis possesses many of the qualities Arsenal value in a modern full-back.

Comfortable in possession, energetic in transition and capable of creating chances from wide areas, the former Leeds United defender fits the technical profile Arteta has consistently looked for in his defensive unit.

His ability to operate high up the pitch while delivering dangerous crosses and quality set-pieces has made him one of the Championship’s most effective attacking defenders over the past three seasons.

While there is currently no indication that Arsenal have submitted an official offer, continued scouting suggests the North London club remain interested should an opportunity arise.

Ipswich in No Rush to Sell

Ipswich remain in a strong negotiating position.

Davis signed a new long-term contract during the 2025/26 season, committing his future to Portman Road until 2029, underlining both the club’s ambition and their determination to retain one of their most valuable players.

With the defender considered a cornerstone of Kieran McKenna’s project, any club hoping to prise him away would almost certainly need to submit a significant offer.

One of Ipswich’s Most Important Players

Since arriving from Leeds United in 2022, Davis has developed into one of the faces of Ipswich’s remarkable rise under McKenna.

His relentless work rate, attacking intent and consistency have made him a favourite among supporters, while his creativity from left-back continues to be a key feature of Ipswich’s style of play.

Even during a campaign where opposition teams increasingly focused on limiting his influence, Davis remained one of the club’s most dependable performers.

What Happens Next?

Interest from Arsenal reflects the progress Davis has made over the past few years, but there is currently nothing to suggest a transfer is imminent.

For now, Ipswich remain determined to build around one of their standout players, while Arsenal are expected to continue monitoring his development as they evaluate defensive targets ahead of future transfer windows.

Should Davis maintain his current level of performance, it would come as little surprise if more Premier League clubs join the race for one of English football’s most accomplished attacking full-backs.
