Brian De Keersmaecker admitted he was angry with his and Oxford United’s performances after their 2-0 loss to Swansea City.
The U’s were downed by goals from Marko Stamenic and Josh Tymon, the latter arrowing an incredibly volley into the top right corner from the edge of the box.
Gary Rowett’s men failed to capitalise on their victory over Ipswich Town last week and conceded both goals in the first half before a slight improvement in the second.
Midfielder Brian De Keersmaecker was one of the brighter sparks in the Yellows side as he looked to claw something from the game in the second period.
“Not good enough, especially in the first half,” the 25-year-old told BBC Radio Oxford after full time.
“We kicked it long too fast. There were opportunities, if you look at the second half, we played better, we tried to play and find the pockets, created some chances.
“After the Ipswich game, you’re thinking it’s something to build on but if you see the first 45 minutes, that’s a shame of us.
“Second half we were better, we were aggressive, tried to play from behind.”
De Keersmaecker was visibly distressed at the final whistle, having a long chat with assistant coach Craig Short who had his arm around the Belgian.

The summer signing created probably the best chance of the game for Oxford, whipping a good ball in to Will Lankshear who could not convert with his head.
“I think I created a good chance to Will, he could score,” De Keersmaecker said with regret.
“I had some opportunities to score by myself with long shots so that’s why I was angry at myself.
“But, also on the team because you have to win against the teams who are standing next to us. It’s good when you win against good teams, but we have to manage to win two games in a row and that’s a big thing for us because I think it’s a long time since we lost two games in a row.
“I think [Swansea] weren’t that good in the second half. They dropped back and one goal can make a difference. Also, the spirit in our team, but we didn’t score.”
In the absence of Cameron Brannagan, who is set to miss another few weeks of action, De Keersmaecker and Will Vaulks have had to step up, with the lack of options in the centre in the park meaning the duo will have little rest this month.
“It’s tough because the games come quick after each other, but I’m physically good, I have no complaints. I can play 90 minutes after every game so I’m feeling good.”
United face Blackburn Rovers on the road this Tuesday as the games continue to come thick and fast.
