Oxford United can confirm that Sam Rose has left his role as Women’s First Team Manager by mutual consent.
Since joining the club in November 2023, Sam has been an integral figure in the growth and progression of Oxford United Women. During his tenure, he oversaw significant strides both on and off the pitch—supporting the development of young players, improving squad depth, and helping to steer the team through a pivotal period of structural evolution. One of the most notable achievements under his leadership was guiding the women’s setup through the transition to a hybrid professional model, positioning Oxford United Women to compete at a higher level and to continue raising standards across the board.
Sam’s professionalism, commitment, and passion for the club have been evident from the first day he arrived. He forged strong relationships within the squad, coaching staff, and wider club structure, always prioritising the development of a positive culture and a winning mentality. His work has laid a foundation that the club aims to build on in the seasons ahead.
Oxford United would like to place on record its sincere gratitude to Sam for the dedication and considerable contribution he has made throughout his time in charge. The club wishes him the very best in his future career, certain that he will continue to make a positive impact wherever his journey takes him next.
As part of the club’s ongoing plans to ensure continuity, the current backroom staff will assume responsibility for leading the Women’s First Team on an interim basis. Their duties will begin immediately, including overseeing preparations and match management for tonight’s fixture away to AFC Bournemouth.
The process to appoint a permanent Women’s First Team Manager will begin in due course, with the club focused on securing the right candidate to drive the team forward and sustain the momentum achieved in recent seasons.
