Norwich City have been predicted to get their first home win of the season against Oxford United by former EFL player Sam Parkin.
Norwich City are back in Championship action on Tuesday night. NCFC lost 4-1 away at Birmingham City in their last game.
The Canaries remain in the relegation zone after 16 fixtures along with Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. They are five points from safety behind their upcoming opponents.
Speaking on the Benjamin Bloom YouTube channel, former Ipswich Town, Luton Town and Swindon Town man Parkin has shared his score prediction against Oxford United: “I don’t think they will (lose). In fact, I’m going to go for them to win. That is no sly on Oxford, who I had to draw against Middlesbrough, I thought they were good value to get a point in that one. I’m going to go for Norwich to get their illusive first home win of the season with a new manager. I’m going to go for them to find something and scrape a 1-0 by hook or by crook.”
Norwich City have recently turned to Philippe Clement as their new manager. He has been picked as their replacement for Liam Manning, who was sacked after a poor run of form.
Norwich City new challenge for Philippe Clement
Norwich City will be hoping that Clement can guide them up the table and away from danger. NCFC have handed him a contract until June 2029.
The 51-year-old was dismissed by Rangers back in February. He has since been weighing up his options over the last few months.
Clement started his managerial career in 2017 and had early spells at Beveren, Genk and Club Brugge in his native Belgium. He then had a spell in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco and won 51% of matches during his time at Stade Louis II.
Rangers came calling in October 2023 and went on to win the Scottish League Cup with the Glasgow giants. However, they missed out on the title in both of his campaigns at the helm to rivals Celtic before he was given the chop.
What now for Norwich City and Philippe Clement?
Norwich City have lost eight of their last nine matches. NCFC will be low on confidence as they prepare to take on Oxford United.
Although there is still a lot of football to play, the Canaries can’t really afford to lose to the U’s. If they did, they would go eight points behind Gary Rowett’s men.
Clement has a tough job on his hands as he looks to keep the East Anglian outfit in the second tier. He has a lot of experience though and has some useful players at his disposal, most notably Josh Sargent.
Norwich City have the chance to bring in some more quality in the January transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door this winter as well if needed.
