Newcastle Agree Major Everton Deal for Highly-Rated U21 Midfielder

Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement with Everton over a major deal for a highly-rated young midfielder Johan Manzambi, with the structure of the proposed transfer attracting plenty of attention.

According to reports surrounding the deal, Newcastle have agreed a package that could eventually be worth around €23 million, although the move is structured to give the Magpies an initial opportunity to assess the youngster before committing to a permanent transfer.

The reported arrangement would see the player initially join Newcastle on loan, with the Premier League side paying around €3 million for the temporary move. Newcastle would then have an option to make the transfer permanent for a further €20 million.

That would take the overall package to approximately €23 million if the purchase option is eventually activated.

Newcastle take measured approach

Rather than committing the full amount immediately, Newcastle’s reported structure gives the club flexibility over the youngster’s future.

The initial loan would allow the midfielder to experience Newcastle’s environment and compete for opportunities while the club assesses his development and suitability for the first team.

Reports also indicate that Newcastle would cover the player’s full salary during the loan spell, making the agreement financially significant even before a potential permanent transfer is completed.

For Everton, meanwhile, the arrangement could provide a sizeable future return on a player who is regarded as having considerable potential.

A deal built around potential

Newcastle’s interest in highly-rated young players reflects the club’s desire to strengthen its squad not only for the present but also for the future.

A loan-to-buy structure would allow the Magpies to take a closer look at the midfielder before deciding whether to trigger the €20 million option.

If the youngster impresses during his time at Newcastle and convinces the club that he can become an important first-team player, the permanent move could ultimately see Newcastle commit the full reported €23 million package.

For now, however, the immediate focus is on the proposed loan move, with the permanent transfer dependent on how the player’s spell at Newcastle develops.

The reported agreement represents another intriguing piece of business between two Premier League clubs and could become one of the more interesting moves involving a young English top-flight talent this summer.

Newcastle fans will now be watching closely to see whether the highly-rated midfielder can make the loan spell count and ultimately earn a permanent move to St James’ Park.
