Oxford United has announced that its director has stepped down from the role at the EFL Championship club in a shakeup behind the scenes.
Horst Geicke has been in the role since 2018 and has occasionally commented on the situation of the club during that time.
The Yellows announced the Hamburg-born investor’s departure on Friday morning with an official statement.
It was also confirmed that Erick Thohir has increased his own controlling interest in the EFL Championship club.

A statement from the club said: “Oxford United can confirm that Erick Thohir has increased his controlling interest in the Club following the acquisition of all Oxford Investment Holdings Pte. Ltd shares previously held by Oxford United Investors Pte. Ltd.
“I was excited when I was asked to be involved at Oxford, but I want to be honest, and I was sceptical about the level in League 1 and what we might find, but I was delighted to find a really good team and a fantastic fanbase, something which gives us a very strong foundation.
“And then you have to remember that this is the city of Oxford, a fantastic place and such a huge part of English culture and history.
“I am based in Hong Kong but have been to Oxford many times: my kids went to summer camps there, my partner graduated there, and I have had the chance to explore the city before.
“It’s a superb part of the country and we believe the football club has so much potential.”
