The Premier League have issued an apology to supporters after making a statement.

The Premier League have issued an apology to supporters after a delay in announcing the TV broadcast schedule for the month of September.

Sunderland are one of the teams to be impacted by the decision made by TV selections – with two of their games now rescheduled. The home fixture against Aston Villa, originally scheduled for Saturday 20 September at 3pm, will now kick off at 2pm on Sunday 21 September.

Then the following weekend, the Black Cats’ trip to Nottingham Forest, which was originally due to be played on Saturday 27 September at 3pm, has been moved to a 5.30pm kick-off on the same day.

Both games are set to feature on Sky Sports with ticket information set to follow in due course.

A Premier League statement read: “The broadcast selections have been announced for live TV in the UK for Premier League matches in match-weeks 4, 5 and 6 in September.

“While the Premier League’s fixture announcement dates advised that September’s fixtures would be released on 9 July, delays in local approvals for fixtures unfortunately meant only August fixtures were announced on this date.

“The Premier League would like to apologise for not being able to confirm these fixtures until now. However, today’s announcement is in line with our commitment to give at least six weeks’ notice for fixture announcements before January.

“All kick-off times are 15:00 BST unless otherwise mentioned.”
