Sandro Tonali Open to Tottenham Move as Newcastle Face Summer Uncertainty

Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, with reports suggesting the Italian international is willing to consider a move to North London if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.

Spurs are believed to have already held positive discussions with Tonali’s representatives, with personal terms reportedly not expected to be a major stumbling block. However, convincing Newcastle to sell one of their most influential midfielders remains a far greater challenge.

The Magpies are understood to have rejected an opening bid worth between £75 million and £80 million, insisting that any club interested in Tonali must pay in excess of £100 million. Newcastle remain reluctant to lose the 26-year-old, who has become a key figure since arriving from AC Milan.

Tottenham’s interest is being driven by new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who views Tonali as the ideal player to anchor his midfield rebuild ahead of the new campaign. De Zerbi is eager to add a technically gifted, energetic midfielder capable of controlling games and improving Spurs’ competitiveness.

Newcastle’s concerns extend beyond Tonali. The club could face a difficult transfer window, with captain Bruno Guimarães also attracting strong interest from Arsenal. Reports suggest several players are assessing their futures following the club’s disappointing campaign, raising fears of a wider squad overhaul.

Although Tottenham appear to be leading the race, they are unlikely to have a free run at the Italy international. Manchester City and Arsenal continue to monitor the situation, while Tonali has also been linked with an eventual return to former club AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Spurs remain active in the transfer market as they continue reshaping their squad. The North London club has already strengthened its defence with several new arrivals and is also monitoring additional midfield targets should negotiations for Tonali fail to progress.

For Newcastle, the coming weeks could prove crucial. While the club is determined to keep hold of its biggest stars, increasing interest from Premier League rivals means they may soon face difficult decisions if significantly improved offers arrive.

As things stand, Newcastle remain firm on their valuation, but with Tottenham determined to secure one of Europe’s most accomplished midfielders, the transfer saga is expected to continue throughout the summer window.
